Birth Parent Trace
Our Adoption researchers have extensive experience in tracing birth parents and in reuniting them. Indeed, many of our researchers are adopted themselves. We understand the process completely.
This is why our help does not cease at the point whereby your parent is located. We can act as intermediary on your request and correspondence may be passed through ourselves. We will help you as long as you feel you need it.

Adoptee Trace
Our service can work both ways, which is why, in certain circumstances we can offer the service of tracing a child given up for adoption. The most important piece of information, which has to be known to instigate a search, is the child's post-adoptive name. Sadly, without this information a trace cannot be carried out.

Birth Parent and Adoptee traces are priced on an individual basis, as there are too many influencing factors to allow a standard set fee. Some searches may require only two weeks investigation and others may take up to a year to conclude. If you choose to, you can receive regular contact and reports detailing the progress of your search. You will have a direct telephone number and e-mail access to your researcher who will be available to contact during office hours (10am - 8pm).

Birth Parent Marriage Trace
You may need to ascertain if your natural mother's name has changed through marriage. This option will ensure a search into the Marriages indexes on microfiche (Births, Marriages and Deaths Indexes England and Wales 1837-1983).
PeopleTrace's researchers have complete access to these Archived records from the General Register Office. Upon your order an experienced Archive researcher will undertake an extensive trace through the archives. You will receive a report detailing the findings within 5 working days.

The Adoption Contact Register
In 1991, The Adoption Contact Register was set up. The Register provides a confidential and safe way for birth parents and other relatives to assure an adoptee that any contact attempts or advances would be welcomed.
There are two parts to the Register. Part 1 is for adopted persons and Part 2 is for natural relatives of an adoptee. An adopted person will need to know their original name before adoption and their natural mother's name. If these details are not available we would have to initially ask the person to apply for access to Birth Records. (Contact PeopleTrace for assistance or advice on this). The Registrar General will send to an adopted person on the Register the name of any relatives who have also registered, together with the address supplied by the relative. No information about the adopted person can be given to a birth parent or other relative.
